These terms apply to stays at Medusa Bungalow, Akmeemana, Galle, Sri Lanka, operated by Hasitha Dias, sole proprietor trading as Medusa Bungalow (business registration no. 1/16/85/2021-03-08/59), and to the use of medusabungalow.com.

1. Booking and payment

The bungalow is let whole, to one booking at a time. A booking is confirmed only when payment has been received and we have sent you a written confirmation. Card payments are processed securely by Sampath Bank; we do not see or store your card details. Prices are quoted per night or per retreat as shown at the time of booking and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. When you book with us directly there is no platform fee, and any extras are arranged by the household rather than a third party.

2. Cancellation and changes

Cancellations are governed by our Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary: free cancellation up to 14 days before arrival, 50% refund between 7 and 13 days, no refund under 7 days or for a no-show. To change dates, contact us as early as possible — we will always try to move your stay rather than cancel it, subject to availability.

2a. Right of withdrawal

Contracts for the provision of accommodation for purposes other than residential, where the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance, are exempt from the statutory consumer right of withdrawal (Article 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU on consumer rights; in Germany, § 312g(2) no. 9 BGB). Your booking is binding once confirmed. The cancellation terms in clause 2 apply instead.

3. Arrival and departure

Check-in is from 2:00 PM. Check-out is by 11:30 AM. Earlier arrival or later departure can often be arranged in advance, subject to availability.

4. Occupancy

The bungalow sleeps five guests. We can accommodate up to seven by arrangement, for a surcharge agreed in advance. The number of guests staying must not exceed the number confirmed in your booking.

5. The house

Medusa is a quiet house in a residential garden, and part of what we offer is that quiet.

• No parties or events. The bungalow is not available for functions.
• No pets.
• Smoking is permitted in the garden only, never indoors.
• We ask guests to keep noise low after 10:00 PM out of respect for the household and neighbours.
• The bungalow is a restored building close to two hundred years old. Please treat it, its furnishings and its garden with care. Guests are responsible for loss or damage beyond ordinary wear, and we may charge for repair or replacement.
• Children are welcome, but the garden includes an unfenced plunge pool and uneven historic paths; children must be supervised at all times.

6. Ayurveda and wellness services

Ayurvedic treatments are traditional therapies provided by our resident practitioner. They are not a substitute for medical care, diagnosis or treatment. Please tell us in advance about any medical condition, medication, allergy or pregnancy so that treatments can be adapted or declined where appropriate. We may decline to provide a treatment where we consider it unsuitable.

7. Liability

Guests use the bungalow, the plunge pool, the garden and all facilities at their own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by Sri Lankan law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss or damage to guests’ personal property, except where such loss results from our negligence. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. We are not liable for failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, natural disaster, civil disturbance or interruption of utilities; in such cases we will offer alternative dates or a refund.

8. Photography

We occasionally photograph the bungalow for our own use. We will never photograph guests without their explicit permission.

9. Privacy

Your personal information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka have exclusive jurisdiction.
